Job Summary​

Our home is based in Derby cares for children & young people with learning disabilities and we are in a position to take applications from anyone that may want a career change that can demonstrate the skills and attributes we would expect a Residential Care worker may possess.


  • Do you have what it takes to encourage and help our children to live independently and guide and teach them with your own life experiences? To do this we believe you will need empathy, compassion, resilience and positive parenting skills.
  • The working day can be very unpredictable and you could find yourself spending the entire morning Organising activities and the afternoon providing 1:1 support. No two days are the same. The right type of person needs to be flexible, adaptable and to be able to read situations and help our young people make positive choices.

Experience not necessary as we provide induction course and extensive on- going training programme; including funded registration on Level 3 Diploma.
Extensive career opportunities, as the largest childcare provider in the UK. Typical route to management, for those motivated to do so, is as follows:
  • 2 years front line care work, qualifying with Level 3 Diploma
  • 2 years Team Leader
  • 2 years Deputy Manager
  • Progression to Management
However, within such a large provider there are many diverse career paths, such as Clinical practitioner, education, training, or facilities.




£9.15 per hour
Plus any sleep in’s at £30
On call rate is £34.67
Plus overtime payment at time and a half.
Based upon 1 overtime shift per month, sleep in’s and on call bonus you could take home a yearly salary of £25,000 +
Extensive opportunities for overtime means no cap on earnings.
Enhanced salary rates for those applicants with Level 3 Residential Childcare, or equivalent

Duration / Hours

Normal shift hours are 08:00 – 23:00 with average 6-9 Sleep Ins per month, plus 1 on call, conducted at the manager’s request.
The rota has you typically working 2 days on and 4 days off depending on cover and annual leave.
There is, of course, some flexibility and our managers know how important a good work life balance is for their team.
