Manchester charity, Bridging the Gap are recruiting a part time driver to support the Manchester South Central Foodbank in providing an emergency food response across Hulme, Moss Side, Whalley Range and Old Trafford. Job Summary​:

To collect donated food stock and to deliver food parcels


Manchester South Central Food-bank provides three day emergency food parcels for people in crisis, working in partnership with organisations across the community. The delivery driver role is fundamental to the temporary home delivery model.
Key tasks:
  • Transporting food parcels to client homes using Food Bank-leased van
  • Carrying heavy loads such as boxes of canned foods
  • Regular loading and unloading of the van
  • Regular van driving across the local area
  • Collecting food donations from collection points such as community centres and businesses around the local area
  • Delivering food donations to the warehouse
  • Such other duties and responsibilities as shall be requested from time to time by the Foodbank Manager.
  • Ensuring vehicle safety and safety checks (fuel, oil, water)
  • Completion of driving logs


A full, clean UK driving licence is required for this position. A DBS check will be required for this position.

From Wesley Centre in Hulme (M15 5BP), delivering food parcels to homes and community venues


£10 per hour


Length of contract: 12 weeks with a view to renewing 12 week probationary period with a view to extend/renew.
Please note the role is required to comply with EU and GB Domestic driving hours regulations.
0-16 hours per week (it is envisaged that this will be worked over two to three days a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays)
