William Hulme’s Grammar School is the most over-subscribed school in Manchester and one of the most successful comprehensive schools in the country. WHGS is an all-through (3-18) Academy of over 1400 pupils with a wide range of abilities, ethnicities and backgrounds.
The Academy has just opened a brand new Sixth Form Centre, has a two-form entry Primary Phase and has specialist rooms in the Secondary Phase, including equipped science labs, a library and ICT resource centre, music practice rooms, design, technology and art rooms, sports hall with changing facilities, along with full kitchen and dining facilities in Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form.

Job Summary:

An opportunity has arisen at William Hulme’s Grammar School (WHGS) to appoint an experienced and highly capable Admissions Officer to lead its busy Admissions Department.  WHGS is a 3-18 Academy with a long and distinguished history.  It is a multi-cultural community that welcomes children from all backgrounds and beliefs and is the most over-subscribed school in Greater Manchester.
Reporting to the Vice Principal (PDBA), the Admissions Officer will have responsibility for the management and operation of all aspects of pupil recruitment, from enquiry through to admission.


  • The successful applicant will most likely have Admissions experience, and/or experience of a front-line customer service role.
  • Approachable, level-headed and highly organised.
  • The Admissions Officer will be a key public face of the School, developing and fostering effective relationships with all stakeholders.


  • As well as a demonstrable track record of success in admissions management or customer service in a comparable organisation.
  • The successful applicant will have strong IT, data management, planning and administrative skills.
  • The ability to communicate effectively at all levels and work under pressure.




Full Time


£24,500 – £28,000 per annum FTE
